Rovers: We need to pick up points at home

Saturday 30 May 2015 11:31am

Andy Hay, the Featherstone Rovers coach, is hoping his side can bounce back from a poor showing against Leigh Centurions.

“We didn’t do ourselves justice last week,” he said. “We were very scrappy in our attack and lost a little bit of discipline. We went there prepared to play and didn’t get the opportunity so we were disappointed with the outcome of the game.

“This is a big game for us, it’s going to be a tough encounter; it usually is against any team John Kear is coaching. We need the win because we’ve got aspirations of the top four so we need to pick up points at home.”

Batley Bulldogs coach John Kear said: “It was tough last week. There were parts of the game where we dominated but unfortunately we didn’t dominate on the scoreboard. That’s something we’ve got to improve upon.

“Dewsbury were a team who were hunting the top four and Featherstone are certainly a team that are doing that. They’ve got some real high quality individuals and they’re a high quality team.”

Centre Shaun Squires should return this week after recovering from a rib injury.

Featherstone Rovers v Batley Bulldogs, Sunday 31st kick-off 3pm.
