Agree Rhiuno1984 - he's a good player and grafter and always gives his all, exactly what Salford need

Don't fancy him at Cas then?

If Leeds hadn't signed Ferres I wouldn't have minded us looking at bringing him in

I would if we didn't already have a pletherer of options:
Millington (when not at prop)
Webster (when not in the centre)
McMeeken
O Holmes
Massey
Moors
Cook
Mariano
Springer (if not a prop)

Then there are still the youngsters to step up
Plus options
Signed for Salford

Heard it here first

Quality, not quantity Cam!
St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has admitted to being ‘shocked’ that Widnes allowed Jack Owens to join his club.

The 21 year-old fullback made the surprise switch from the Select Security Stadium to Langtree Park in the off-season but looks set to have first shot at a first team spot in his preferred position.

With Jonny Lomax and Shannon McDonnell still on the injury list, Saints fans are likely to get their first look at Owens in this Sunday’s home friendly against Dewsbury Rams (ko 3.00pm).

Cunningham said “Jack’s been running at fullback all pre-season; he’s been phenomenal.

“He’s a great recruit and somebody we’ve followed closely for a while.

“I’m still shocked that Widnes let him go, I honestly am.

“It’s definitely our gain.

“We’ve put lots of education into him and he’s loving being around.

“It’s a different environment and everybody’s challenging him. He just loves it.”

Owens will be looking to make the custodian role his own with some strong early season performances and could be set to face his former club in Saints’ final pre-season game which sees the Vikings visit Langtree Park a week on Sunday.

Lomax is still some way from being ready to retake the field following a serious knee injury while McDonnell’s return to full fitness has been slower than hoped.

Cunningham added “I’ve not given Jonny a timeframe. Obviously he’s coming off a recurrence of that injury.

“When Jonny’s ready he’ll be ready.

“He’s going to go over to Ireland where they’ve got some 3D technology to have a look at him and he’ll probably get re-checked in six weeks.

“Shannon’s had a lot of issues with infections which set him back.

“He’s gone through the mill a bit and he won’t be ready for the start of the season.

“Luckily we signed Jack Owens.”

Owens gained plenty of first grade experience at Widnes at both fullback and wing.

However, with first choice fullback Rhys Hanbury and newly recruited import Corey Thompson likely to be ahead of him in the pecking order this season, Vikings coach Denis Betts decided to grant him a release.
Jack Owens..... Phenomenal?
