A RFL Operational Rules Tribunal has today ruled that Hull FC are not entitled to compensation from Leeds Rhinos for player Luke Briscoe.
Briscoe rejected a new contract offer from Hull FC in September 2011 to join Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC claimed compensation from his new club.
However the Tribunal determined that under Operational Rule C1:3:12(a) Hull FC had relinquished their entitlement to compensation because the terms of the new contract they had offered Briscoe were less favourable than his previous contract.

Leeds Rhinos Chief Executive Gary Hetherington commented, "The Hull FC Chairman Adam Pearson made some serious allegations against me and Leeds Rhinos including a demand for compensation.

"Today's tribunal brings to an end a three month long RFL investigation into those allegations, all of which have been dismissed as having no basis. I am naturally pleased with this outcome."

will we hear an apology from pearson?!
doubt it....

Pearson isn't a happy chappy!

----------------
This has prompted Pearson to release the following statement highlighting his disappointment and frustration with the entire process.

He said, “The result of this morning’s RFL tribunal on Luke Briscoe has obviously not come as a surprise to us at Hull FC as we fully expected this predictable outcome despite Luke being presented with three formal contract offers.

“The whole tribunal process taking six months has been a complete sham and fiasco from start to finish and I had no confidence whatsoever that this would be a fair or equitable outcome.

“After the debacle of the Super League naming rights sponsorship process and other poorly handled situations over the last twelve months, this only serves as further confirmation that there needs to be a complete root and branch overhaul of the entire governing body and its hugely expensive and ineffectual infrastructure.

“This is certainly my view and I believe that of a number of other Super League club owners and Chairman and this review process is now of the utmost importance to the game as a whole.”

Pearson went on to say, “I look forward to my imminent meeting with the interim Chairman of the Rugby Football League, Mr Maurice Watkin, and I hope that I can add some specific sports management experience to a restructuring process that is urgently required if the game of rugby league is to be successfully represented within such a commercial and competitive sporting world in which we now operate.

“Hull FC will endeavour to ensure no further young talent is poached from the club and this objective will be helped by not having such close liaisons with other competing Super League clubs.

“We acknowledge our youth infrastructure needed vast improvement and hopefully our significant investment financially and facility based into the new academy set up we have now created at the club will see a reversal of the player migration along the M62 corridor.”

Thats an understatement LBA. I think this could be one of those cases where he would have been better simply saying "I'm not happy and have raised some issues with the relevant people". I wonder if they RFL will take action against him for his outburst?

In fairness he's probably right in saying that he speaks what most people feel. Not the brightest bunch at red hall are they.

If he was that important to hull they should of paid him what he wanted or sorted his contract out sooner. If he wanted to leave anyway then why would you want him to stay.

Just get on with it.

RE: hetherington 1 pearson 0
what an idiot pearson is, mega dummy spit!!

firstly, his club offered briscoe LESS than his previous contract.....
secondly, the super league clubs voted on the current new sponsorship...
thirdly, arrogant enough to think he can waltz into the rfl and give them experience....when the guy doesnt even know the rules when it comes to players contracts
fourthly, "innefectual infrastructure" even though rugby league is at its strongest for years, higher attendances and brilliant viewing figures
fifthly, "reversal of the player migration along the m62 corridor" wtf is this guy smoking? does he know how many ex-leeds players that team have had off us either by transfer or loan dealing..how many teams have hull born players in them?!

Even better than that tatty. He's saying the rfl are bent, and the "system, meaning the rfl, needs scrapping. But he's very kindly offerring his huge sports management experience to the process.
Not only that, he "believes everyone else, or those with a brain, agrees. Believes of course, not knows.
Anyone else hope this arrogant wanker is left without a pot to piss in?
