George Groves has failed in his appeal to the International Boxing Federation over the purse split for a world title rematch with Carl Froch.

Froch beat super middleweight Groves in November but a rematch was ordered after the IBF ruled "inappropriate conduct" by referee Howard Foster.

Because Groves is not considered a top challenger, 85% of the money will go to WBA and IBF champion Froch.

The IBF board voted unanimously to maintain the 85%-15% split.

Froch, 36, released a statement last Friday claiming that his rival had turned down a seven-figure offer to fight again.

Fellow Briton Groves, 25, said he was unhappy with several clauses in the offer.

if i was groves i wouldnt give froch the big pay day, fuck im. groves has options, plus hes young.

If groves is THAT confident of victory, surely taking 15% for a world title is ok? The money will follow the title.

I think its a better deal than the first fight for groves. He will earn more.

depends if he gets better offers elsewhere and thats down to his manager.

Belfast fighter Carl Frampton will take on Mexican Hugo Cazares in a final world title eliminator at the Odyssey Arena on Friday, 4 April.

Victory for the super-bantamweight would set up a world title showdown with WBC champion Leo Santa Cruz.

Cazares, 35, has won 33 of his 40 fights and is a former world champion at super-flyweight and light-flyweight.

Frampton relinquished his European and Commonwealth belts in November in his bid to secure a world title fight.

Cazares tops the current WBC rankings with 26-year-old Frampton at the number two.

"Hugo Cazares is a former two-weight world champion from Mexico who brings a lot of experience and skill with him," said Frampton.

"I can't wait to get back in front of the amazing Belfast crowd and secure my shot at the WBC world title.

"I have progressed so much in the last 12 months both in the boxing ring and out of it.

"I believe the next 12 months will bring me even more success and more importantly the world title."

Unbeaten Frampton retained the European title in October as he stopped Frenchman Jeremy Parodi in six rounds.

Id like to see frampton fight quigg when they both hold titles.

Frampton pisses all over quigg btw.

quigg was on ringside yesterday and said they offered frampton a fight in march and he turned it down....

Buckland beats rees on a split decision. Could be fight of the year and its only February. That will take some beating.

Anthony joshua next up.

Easy win for joshua. I just think he is more frank bruno than lennox lewis.
