Must say I was v pleased to see little Macca take the 9 shirt. After last season I thought we were going to lose him but I guess this must have been what he was hanging around for!

It is a very young "first choice" back line, but I did note in the article there were the usual caveats about the numbers not necessarily meaning starting slots Smile It's pleasing though... a nice young English back line.

Smith at 14 is odd... I always thought that was the second hooker number and I can't see him hooking?? maybe Uncle Gary and our Brian are hoping little Macca will be more of an 80 minuter (he is, after all, young and full of energy!) and are just putting Smith in as a sort of utility player. Pretty surprised he's hanging around tbh - he's not seen much action this (last?) season.

All in all pretty pleased.... putting our faith in youth may not reap rewards immediately, but hopefully it will start another set of glory years a couple down the line Big Grin

Think McShane will start with Burrow off the bench again to be honest! Burrow may not like it but its a winning formula!

Surely Burrow would enjoy this role. come on when the oppostion are tired and destroy them, rather than giving all his effort with no success

Smith wont be a hooker. Hookers will be macca, burrow and i can see hood slowly making the transition with a handful of appearances this year. Good to see macca get his chance.

On another note, its about time watkins had an injury free season so he can showcase his unbelievable talents on a more consistant basis.

Re smith. He will be cover fot fb wing and centre.

cracking squad, roll on the start of the season. Some real pace in the three quarter line.Zak's mother should give him a few more yorkshire puddings and beef him up a bit though.Wink.agree with drs,it would be nice to see kallum have an injury free season and as for smith, his best position is full back although he can cover wing and centre. All in all very optimistic for 2012.
Big Grin

I'm sure Zak will bulk up, he's only twenty. Reminds me very much of a young Senior. Think the quad looks pretty solid.

This quote-
“He has got the potential and I think signing for Leeds is a great move,” Tom, 21, said of his younger brother,

The recognition in the Australian and British media of our back three in particular, but our outside backs in general show how far the squad and team has come on. Tom Briscoe would do well in the NRL for me, but I'd like Hull to stick hold of their own; or he could just sign for Saints.
