RFL Aid - RedRedRobinBen - 03-27-2012 12:41 PM Will the RFL send money to the Bulls to save them? Theyve already purchased Odsal so the Rent goes down! We; Hull KR had nothing from the RFL when we was in this situation! RE: RFL Aid - The Swede - 03-27-2012 12:44 PM I doubt it. They bought the stadium as payment for old debt; they're hardly going to reimburse them that amount to get them back in the black, are they? Now if this was a team in Wales or Scotland or Uzbekistan playing with 14 Aussies, 2 Kiwis and a 'Samoan' in front of 1,500 people a week then it'd be a different story. I hate to say that, but we've gone to fast too soon with this expansion, and I think this is only the start of the bearing the brunt of it. RE: RFL Aid - RedRedRobinBen - 03-27-2012 12:51 PM Apparently, Bradford have 12,000 pass holders, the RFL 'are all for keeping fans in the game' RE: RFL Aid - eddington - 03-27-2012 12:54 PM (03-27-2012 12:44 PM)Saint Until I Die Wrote: I doubt it. RE: RFL Aid - HKR AWAY DAYS - 03-27-2012 01:08 PM I understand your feelings on this, Ben, but there is more to it than meets the eye. This isn't an isolated incident. The RFL are responsible for the day-to-day running of the sport, not Bradford's finances. Even if they'd have struck a deal with a sponsor who is actually going to give us much needed streams of revenue, Bradford would still be in the situation. Blame Peter Hood. Bradford fans have wanted him out for quite some time. RE: RFL Aid - RedRedRobinBen - 03-27-2012 01:10 PM A club with a 'crap' Owner/Chairman/Board are always going to be in trouble I guess. If your going to run a big business, at least do it to what suits the customers and employees (Fans and Players/Coaches) RE: RFL Aid - The Swede - 03-27-2012 01:13 PM (03-27-2012 12:54 PM)eddington Wrote:(03-27-2012 12:44 PM)Saint Until I Die Wrote: I doubt it. So you're honestly trying to tell me that rugby league with it's current popular and financial foundations has any right to go into Wales and start a franchise there? The game needs expanding all over the world. The Aussies arent doing anything for it, so we are. And how far has it got us? PSG dead, Gateshead playing in front of 200 in Championship One, London going from form to form and bankruptcy to bankruptcy, Crusaders dead. Okay, you've got Catalan doing well in a reasonable stronghold in France, but until we can genuinely say that this game is strong enough to go further than the heartlands - which on this and Wakefield last year's evidence it is not - then we should concentrate fully on growing these heartlands to get the solid foundations that you need to have a strong, international sport. Don't get me wrong, I want expansion to happen, but only when it can be successful, and it simply cannot be successful yet. If anything it suggests expansion is badly needed because if the established clubs can't run themselves successfully then we're going to need a hell of a lot more clubs playing the sport just to keep going. |
