Wolves Announce Signings Of Young Talent
Warrington Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of three players to their Academy, Brad Marwood and Jacque Peet from the club's highly rated scholarship scheme, and Leighton Ratchford from Wigan St Cuthbert's.

All three players featured in matches for Gary Chambers' U18s side at the close of last season and are all excited about the prospect of getting stuck into the newly formatted U18 season which commences in April.

Wolves Player Performance Manager Ben Lazenby is very pleased with the number of players progressing from the club's scholarship scheme and it shows that the club is moving in the right direction with its recruitment process and its youth development structures.

"We are seeing more and more of the club's young players progressing up the ranks at each level at the club and this is demonstrated by sixteen of the current 31-man squad having come through the Wolves Junior systems."

Brad Marwood hails from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria and is the son of Rugby League Record breaker Dean Marwood, who had a distinguished career for both Barrow and Workington between 1988 and 1999, playing in the same Workington team as Tony Smith in the first season of Super League. Brad, also a scrum half, was impressive for the U16 scholarship team in 2010 where he demonstrated great skill and vision.

Back-Rower Jacque Peet joined the U16 scholarship midway through the 2009/2010 season after showing his quality for his community club side, Golborne Parkside ARLFC. Since being involved with the club Jacque has become a formidable defender and his skills are improving under the watchful eye of Gary Chambers, U18 Head Coach.

Another addition to the U18 squad is Wigan-born Leighton Ratchford, younger brother of Salford's Stefan Ratchford. Leighton is a smart stand off who likes to play off the front foot and has a good kicking game. He played for Wigan St Cuthbert's up until last season when he signed for the Warrington Wolves.

Gary Chambers has been impressed with all three of the players, along with the other signings who joined the club in July 2010.

"The quality of talent coming through the club at the moment is very high and all of last year's signings have impressed me. All three of these lads made their U18 debuts last year, which shows their quality." Gary commented.

"All of these lads know they have a lot of hard work ahead of them but the good thing about them is, they are good people, have the right attitude and I know they will work hard to achieve their goals"

It would be nice if the TOWN of Warrington actually produced some RL talent for it's own club

In fairness, they only have 3 amateur sides to scout from. Burtonwood, Latchford and Rylands!
