Which 'rubbish' are you referring to?

The fact that the Giants are poorly supported?

The fact that Wigan get more visitors from Les Catalans than Huddersfield?

The fact that the Giants Facebook page has attracted less than 500 people who can even be arsed to click 'Like'?

You guys really need to decide whether or not you want a Super League team in your town because there are thousands of real RL fans in Widnes, Leigh, Halifax and Fev who would be happy to take your place.

Your problems are nothing to do with this site!

The admins thought it would be clever to delete the comments I was relating to and to leave my post there.

Also, how are you calculating the away support of the Catalans? If it is by the number attending then you need to include external factors such as the Giants game being on Sky and the Catalans game having a massive promotion with the Heinz factory. It seems you are comparing eggs to...well beans.

RE: We need more Giants fans!
I was at that game, and maybe a few people were put off by the extortionate prices! Must be the most expensive ticket I've bought for my 5 year old. There might not have been many of us that night but we shut your lot up and could hear us over you. The club decided not to open the away end that day to claw back even more cash no doubt, and the fact that we were stuffed in with a load of angry fans, gesturing and shouting foul mouth comments didn't help me to decide to bring my family back tbh. If those are the sorts of fans that we would attract to the giants then I'd rather not thanks.

the future's bright - the future is claret and gold.

RE: We need more Giants fans!
I do think that a sure-fire way of turning off fans is a thread stating the obvious.

Theres nothing we would love more than regular crowds of over 10,000 week in week out and to be able to take 2000-3000 to every away game (exept silverware perhaps) but imo the problem is deep-rooted the cause i believe is the creation of superleague itself timed with possibly some of our darkest days.

When SL was created the club was struggling so the "RL fans" of Huddersfield were given a stark choice batley, bramley keighley and the like to watch Fartown or Central Park, Knowsley rd etc under the banner of the Bulls. True fans stuck with fartown but walking around Huddersfield at that time there was a lot of Bulls shirts.

Also take into account the ill fated merger and the fact that untill a couple of seasons ago we always struggled at the wrong end of the table those are the reasons i believe our crowds have struggled.

I honestly believe that IF and WHEN we win silverware we will see a significant increase in attendance but in the meantime and TBH i love the fact that We Giants are like a little family i see the same faces on a nodding aquaintance at away games and in the Eastwood twins i think we have possibly the best and loudest fans in RL.

Come on you Giants!!!!

RE: We need more Giants fans!
surely if hudds have an extended period near the top of the table and even win a bit here and there, the fan numbers will increase?? being patient is often over-rated but in this rare occasion its sound advice and worth heeding.

Perhaps you've just proved his point.

Season tickets for U12s are free.

I've just paid £20 to stand in a dilapidated stadium at Cas [no disrespect to Cas as they'll soon be moving to a new stadium].

Another comment as to why regular posters on other forums might not post here.
Having read some other threads I can see what Giantsrlfans means.

The outdated biase & criticism of the Giants is unbelievable.

I'll come back in a while to see if things have improved.

And I don't like how separate posts are put together as one.

Sorry SLFans, but you're up against some well established forums out there.

RE: We need more Giants fans!
My comments were in response to how few away supporters he incorrectly perceived were at the Wigan game, not about new giants fans. Hudds is a footy town pure and simple and many people can't afford or have no interest to do both, I don't think any amount of marketing will change that in the short term. The giants are trying to build a fanbase by targeting youngsters and that'd good- but can the adults be convinced to accompany them. I know of mamy young "supporters" at my sons school and even some at the club where he plays who don't come to the games.

the future's bright - the future is claret and gold.

The admission to the Probiz Coliseum has raised £2.00 for 2011 which is a bit daft, £18.00 for pre sales.

I am new to these forums but they seem to be okay.

I took on the role of an Administrator on a Rugby League forum and believe me fans are fickle.
