Hughes deal for Huge...
Breakthrough Wigan centre Jack Hughes has been rewarded for his solid start to his Wigan first team career with a new five-year contract at the club. The 20-year-old ex-Wigan St Judes' amateur, who made his debut in the back row last year has been playing left centre this in George Carmont's absence, and got his first career try in last week's win over Catalan at home.

Great news for Wigan and for Hughes.

Strong with you the force is. Yoda - the galaxy's greatest dyslexic.

Anyway...a sure favourite for Wigan's number 4 when Carmont hangs up his boots?

Not sure about that. Hughes is potentially a world class back row and I'm not sure he has that potential at centre, although he's been an excellent stand in so far.

Gelling is probably the player that Wane wants to see replacing Carmont but it's a question of whether he becomes good enough. If he isn't then Wigan might have to look at bringing in another player to replace Carmont.

I think he's done well in the centre, the little I've seen of him. Has he got the size and power to make it as a world class back-rower?
