SL clubs, unsurprisingly, support WCC expansion...
Quote:Plans to extend the World Club Challenge, which was first contested in 1987, were given support by representatives of the 14 Super League clubs, at a two-day conference at Harrogate. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/17405190 No smoke from Australia so far though, can't think why... |

That report was unclear about who actually supported the idea. Was it the RFL? SL? Individual clubs? Sorry to be so blunt but anyone who thinks this is going to happen is living in a reality vaccuum.

We are in a bit of a self-convincing state in Super League at the moment for me. We are kidding ourselves on so many levels, from top to bottom, and this is one example of it for mine, unfortunately.
"'SUID'? Yes... That's what they used to call me. 'Saint Until I Die'. That was my name. I am The Swede. And I come back to you now at the turn of the tide." |

The aussies only ever put their interests first in rugby league. So as much as our clubs would like it to expand I very much doubt it'll be ever more than what we now have.
Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible person... me. |

Not going to happen I am afraid.
We complain now about how many games the players are playing at the moment,if it does happen it will come at the expense of the international game which I hope it doesn't. 100% League,0% Union |

Yeah I agree with the majority on this one.....It aint gonna happen! Was it not the Aussies who didnt want a Four Nations Tourney this year in order to prepare for next year's RLWC? So I think we can safely assume that their clubs are not going to want to take part in a new International Club tourney which would mean a big shake up in the domestic calendar to fit it in!

I think it is a case of little RFL trying to get a slice of the pie that the big NRL holds.
Yetti says that the Aussies only put themselves first. This type of tournament would play havoc with the international calendar. When you have people like Hetherington throwing what little weight he has about, are we not doing the same? |
