RE: The 'Hirebase' Hull Kingston Rovers
"leeds building society leeds rhinos" doesnt sound to bad, more money is more money, if the fans really really want to get the names the same, then they can raise the money, buy the naming rights and name the club themselfs

But who will moderate the moderators?

I dunno...Coast Guard?

Of course they do but name changes of teams shouldn't have to happen. The one thing SL lacks is sponsorship from really big companies. You see the likes of Samsung and LG in the NRL and we should look to that.
Nobody expects football teams to be called The Emirates Reds or Etihad City and neither should we with Rugby.

Read the OP and you'll see rugby clubs clearly do this...

Clearly because you have typed it or clearly because I see these "names" in the press and such? I haven't once seen a team in the NRL being called by a company name only by their own name such as Wests or The Tigers. You telling me there's a team called the Pirtek Eels or the Kaspersky Sea Eagles?

They advertising the sponsorship names on their respective sites. Research it, it is all there. Obviously Channel 9 or whoever broadcasts the games can't call them that for obvious reasons but it is a great commercial ploy that works.

Advertising a name doesn't mean you change yours.

Is still Sydney Roosters, Steggles has a little box at the bottom. Nowhere does it call them The Steggles Roosters.

Clearly at least one rugby team does go by their sponsorship name...

A league name is different to a clubs name tho

Im not really a fan of sponsorship in the name, like the Vodafone Warriors

I'm not missing any point. These clubs haven't officially changed their names. Those companies while being sponsors do not own those clubs. And my point, from the start of this thread was I don't agree with it. This is all down to opinions so it's not a case of who is wrong and who is right.
So, why would you want Hirebase (a nothing company really) having their name in the title of your team? Apart from cash that is. It gives the wrong impression to outsiders.

Correct...

I didn't say I want it. I said I want the money from it.
