But when your "main mans" game is based on being on the front foot and not having to defend, its not great... his long kicking game is woeful, and his short game is inconsistent.

It's not like Briers has ever been good in defence. Always been absolute rubbish, but then there are plenty of halfbacks who are also hopeless in that area. Luckily as a Wigan fan I get to watch two of the best defensive halfbacks in Leuluai and Finch.

I don't think you can pin it all on Briers though. From what I saw the big problem for Wire was a complete lack of structure in attack and defence. There didn't appear to be a real game plan and the attack seems to revolve around passing or offloading at any opportunity and the players don't appear to be thinking ahead.

Credit must go to Catalans for withstanding a lot of pressure at times but you'd expect Warrington, with all the attacking players they possess, to be able to break them down more often than they did.

What attacking players... our best 4.. Briers, Myler (injury), Monaghan and Atkins weren't on the pitch... or mights as well have not been in Briers case.

That's a good point! That probably explains why they couldn't break Catalans down.

No way, Menzies is awesome, first class....still...

Warrington didn't play at all well and made Catalans look good, there were a number of non performers not just briers, like Hodgson for example who had a stinker, he blew two gilt edged chances when getting tackled by an earthworm
