Scott Moore

Huddersfield could throw a career lifeline to former St Helens hooker Scott Moore, who was sacked by Widnes Vikings last week. Moore, who played the best rugby of his career during a season on loan at the Giants in 2009, joined the Vikings from home-town club St Helens at the start of the season. But the 24-year-old, who has been no stranger to controversy during his career, had his contract torn up just six matches into a three-year deal with the club. But, after losing hooker or half-back Tommy Lee for up to four months with a knee injury last week, coach Nathan Brown admits he could be tempted to sign Moore as a straight replacement. "We possibly could be," said Brown, when asked whether he was interested in the player following his side's 42-14 Challenge Cup win at Hull on Sunday. "We've got a good affiliation with Scotty. He did a great job for us when he was with us." Nathan Brown Quotes of the week "We've got a good affiliation with Scotty. He did a great job for us when he was with us. Trouble Moore played in a Challenge Cup final at Wembley while at Huddersfield in 2009, was included in the Super League Dream Team and made his England debut against France. But he blotted his copybook with the Giants by getting himself suspended for missing training to attend an awards night in London with actor Micky Rourke. "One little incident apart, we couldn't fault him," Brown added. "He was good. Scotty just needs guidance and direction. He needs a bit of care and he needs to get away from where he lives. "He's like a lot of young kids. I've got a brother the same. They hang around some of their mates and they get in trouble. "If you get them away from it, sometimes you can guide them a little bit. Scotty is no different. He's a good young kid who just needs some guidance and a bit of love and care." |

RE: Scott Moore
Thought he was joining Inglis and Eastmond at Hull?
I think he needs to get a fresh start, as Brown eludes to, away from the d*ckheads, and start concentrating on his rugby again. He can still be a very good Super League player, and when his head's in the right place, would make a decent addition to most sides. "'SUID'? Yes... That's what they used to call me. 'Saint Until I Die'. That was my name. I am The Swede. And I come back to you now at the turn of the tide." |

RE: Scott Moore
I think he needs to make the decision to concentrate on his rugby and 'grow up' a bit to allow him to reach his potential. Would be a shame if he was to lose that for a bit of fun with some idiots.

RE: Scott Moore
Too true, but amazing how often that happens (less in professionalism, but scarily often in the amateur game).

RE: Scott Moore
Moore definitely has the talent. When he was at Huddersfield before he seemed to be one of the best hookers in the competition and had all the attributes you would want from a hooker.
If he puts the effort in to concentrate on his game and ignore the outside distractions then he could become a very good player again, but he's had plenty of chances for someone who is only 24 and seems to take his career for granted. ![]() |

RE: Scott Moore
It must be a hard thing to do really, especially if they have grown up surrounded by these people. Quite a few of the autobiographies of SL players touch on the idea of them having to break away from those people/that way of thinking in order to build the career they did.

RE: Scott Moore
Agree to an extent but when you take the sport up at the level these guys are you have to break away from the bad influences etc as it's your job at ATEOTD.
if you can't or are unwilling to do this keep playing Amatuer, having a laugh with your mates and p*ssing it up the wall every Saturday night, I took the latter option :-0( |

Well the Moore signing has been confirmed until the end of the season. Sensible as it gives him time to prove he is serious if he wants a longer contract.

RE: Scott Moore
How are Huddersfield, in the mean time, going to operate with, what, four hookers? (Robinson, Lunt, Lee and Moore, with Faiumu who can go in there.)
