RE: Amos Roberts
It's not surprising, unfortunately. He's supposedly been back to full fitness after having another operation on his knee during the off season but in his performances for the under 20's he's looked a shadow of the player he was. It's such a shame for him because up until that knee injury against Wakefield he was probably the form player in Super League. His performances were outstanding but it just goes to show how quickly things can slip away in professional sport.

Since then he's never looked the same, and has fallen behind Russell, Gelling and King in the pecking order for a place on the wing.

Hopefully he'll do well in whatever career he decides to pursue next.

Having said all that, he's denied it on Twitter!

RE: Amos Roberts
He looked class... Was that at the start of last season, or the season before.... Remember he kept making breaks, and scored a good try against Wire.

RE: Amos Roberts
It was at the start of the 2010 season when Maguire first took over. He was attacking just as well as Sam Tomkins does now except he was pretty solid defensively too. His try against Wire was classy and in one game he almost single handedly destroyed Cas when the rest of the team weren't playing at their best.

He's saying that he isn't retiring but I still can't see him ever getting back to the form he was in prior to his injury and if his chances of making a return to the first team seem likely to be purely as cover should several players get injured.

No error on my part, as Bilko tweeted it on twitter, and it's been posted on RLFans.com way before I put it on here, brought the news from there.

RE: Amos Roberts
Shame really, that he's had such an inauspicious end to his Wigan career. Best of luck to the fella.

RE: Amos Roberts
He's now confirmed on Twitter that he's announced his retirement at training to staff and team mates. I'm guessing he wanted to announce it properly rather than confirming it on twitter first.
