Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
![]() ![]() Have discussed it many times at games and at home with my dad and uncle. It's simple really I like the play off concept and I enjoy going to the games during that period but in my honest opinion, 'The hub cap' should mean more than it does. It's called a league then the winner of the 'League' is determined on a knockout basis like a cup competition. Finishing top of the league in it's entirety after staying consistent over the whole season should crowned the Super League Champions. That is just my opinion though, feel free to shed light on yours. ----------------------------------------

RE: Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
league leaders shield Should carry more prestige A fair measure of a team is how they've performed over the whole 27 rounds. I've maoned on and on about this for years. The play-offs should be a seperate 'elite 8' cup. They could even make it the whole of the SL are in a end of seaosn trophy but seeded by league finish a play-off with the whole league. I'd watch that.

RE: Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
Superleague trophy shows a team who can perform all season AND handle the pressure of knock out rugby. The higher you finish, the better your draw in the playoffs, so it is rewarded with home advantage and 2 bites at the cherry, should you choke.

I'm not a fan of plates as prizes

RE: Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
Super League Trophy.....for me the shield rewards the most consistent team over the regular rounds, but there are two phases to our Super League competition, which culminate in the crowning of the Champions at Old Trafford in October. And nothing compares to seeing your side win the big one at Old Trafford!!

RE: Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
The league leaders shield should carry more prestige, whether the league leader goes straight into the SL grand final. or if the SL trophy is awarded to the league leader and a seperate comp is made at end of seson for the 'ELite 8'
At the minute winning the league leaders shield doesn't really mean much apart from awarding the most consistant team. but the winner gets forgotten once the playoff and grand final has come round. Leeds Rhinos - Marching on together

RE: Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
Winners of the League at the end of 27 rounds should be the true champion, Wire won it last year but most folk still go on about Leeds who won the GF from 5th (no disrespect to Leeds as was a fantastic achievement) but think Wire deserved the more praise for consistency over the season.
Challenge Cup is the reward for teams who can win a knockout competition, why not have a top 4 NRL vs top 4 SL for a seperate money maker rather than GF which IMO detracts a little from the true league champs. |

RE: Super League Trophy or League Leaders Shield
GF means more not least because it means the most to the players, more than finishing top in any case. Do you think Wire would have finished top last season if that was teh main prize? Maybe they would but I think Wigan would have ried to peak for that game against wire and put in a better performance, as it wasnt the main prize peaking for that game was never an option.
