Castleford Tigers have confirmed the signing of Jordan Tansey on a one-year deal for 2013.

Tansey burst onto the Super League stage in 2006 with Leeds Rhinos where he made 52 first-team appearances and featured in the England squad at the 2008 World Cup.

The utility back moved to Sydney Roosters the following year, though homesickness curtailed his spell to just nine NRL appearances.

Tansey returned to England with Hull FC, where made 31 appearances between 2009-2011, before his contract was terminated.

The 25-year-old joins the club from Championship side York City Knights after a spell with Crusaders and head coach Ian Millward said: "We've signed him next year on his outstanding utility value.

"He lost consistency in his life away from the game and went back to York to do the hard yards and get back on track. We're very impressed by his enthusiasm and drive to fulfil his potential.

"At the age of 25 he has the talent to be a great utility asset to us."

I always liked tansey. Very talented footballer, just a liability off the pitch. Keep him off the sauce and out of bother and he should do well. Cas may just be too close to home and bad habits too easy to return to. Hope not cos i always liked the kid, he always spoke too. Hope he turns it around.

Cant quite see where hell fit but i'd imagine he'll make a great cover player for the backline similar to Aspinwall was.

Hes a decent player when he puts his mind to it, can play most positions, hes just an idiot!

Good utility player, i think the only position he didnt play for us was Prop. He is a talented lad but as we all know his behaviour off the pitch hasn't been too great!

He'll be a decent player at the start of the season, but once he gets comfortable at cas I can see the bad habits creeping back in and he'll blow it again

Unsure about this signing - at least we'll have some quality cover in the backs for a change next year. Hope he starts to show his potential!

Oh didn't see that coming if he keeps away from the bad habits he will do well and I hope he does because everyone deserves a second chance could him and Ellis get into bad habits together because it is known ellis like to drink to.
