Ferres Signs For Giants
Huddersfield Giants Friday 20 Jul 2012 4:19pm
Just a matter of days into Paul Anderson's reign as head coach of the Huddersfield Giants, and he has made his first signing.
It was confirmed this afternoon, that versatile Castleford player Brett Ferres would join the club with immediate effect. He has signed a three and a half year contract with the Giants.
Huddersfield's managing director, Richard Thelwis, told the club's website: "Brett has been a player we've admired for a long time. I must thank Castleford for their assistance over the past few days in allowing the deal to occur prior to him coming out of contract in November."
As the signing was made before Fridays 2PM deadline, this means that Ferres will be available to make his debut on Sunday in the match against Wakefield, if selected by Anderson. The squad may face a re-shuffle this week with Anderson taking charge of his first game, and with Ferres signing after Anderson was appointed, it is likely he may have some role to play.
In addition, Kevin Brown being stripped of the captaincy means that a new captain will be appointed for this fixture.
