Huddersfield Giants back row forward Jacob ‘Bobby’ Fairbank has signed an extended contract to remain in the Claret and Gold until the end of the 2015 season. The 22 year old academy graduate is currently recovering from a wrist injury but is expected to be back in full training to challenge for a Super League starting spot in early May.
Prior to his injury Fairbank was in great form for the Giants playing in five games so far this term, including crunch encounters with the Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves, and ‘Bobby’ is pleased to have got his future sorted:
“I’m really happy to have got the deal sorted. It’s been on the radar for a few months now so when I found out the Giants wanted to re-sign me, I was over the moon. The start of the season has been great prior to my injury, playing in big games against the likes of Wigan and Warrington. These are the games you want to be a part of testing yourself against the best sides, I really enjoyed it and it makes you hungry for more.”
The Giants are currently top of the Stobart Super League and Fairbank is pleased with the way things are progressing and he is also looking forward to continuing to work with Paul Anderson, who will take over from Nathan Brown at the end of the year:
“I’m really happy for the lads so far this season, sitting at the top of the table. I know how good we are and I think it’s been coming for the past two or three seasons really. Paul Anderson has had a big impact on my career so far since I signed for the club full time and as a former International forward he has great knowledge and tips to pass on.
Commenting on Fairbank’s contract extension, Managing Director Richard Thewlis was thrilled to have signed the youngster on for three more years:
“This news will be very well received by our supporters as Bobby is a very popular member of our squad. In a very short period of time playing in Super League Bobby has established himself into the hearts of our fans with some tremendously intense and workmanlike performances over long periods of time. He is a remarkably fit young man and there is no doubt that his year in the Championship significantly aided his development which now results in him having a long term Super League playing contract."
