Radford Names Squad For Season Opener

Wednesday 3 Feb 2016 6:16pm
Hull FC head coach Lee Radford has announced his 19-man squad for this week’s Super League Round 1 game against Salford Red Devils.

The Black and Whites take on Salford this Friday at the KC Stadium, kick-off 8pm, and are almost at full strength for the clash.

All of the Airlie Birds’ six new signings have been chosen by Radford after starring against Hull Kingston Rovers in the Clive Sullivan Trophy pre-season derby victory.

Fetuli Talanoa has been included in the squad despite not featuring in the pre-season games against Doncaster and Hull Kingston Rovers.

The 28 year-old winger is fully fit following knee surgery and is set to play whilst Hull FC captain Gareth Ellis misses out as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury.

In his pre-match press conference, Radford said: “It’s great to have Fetuli back. You just have to ask the opposition coaches about him and they’ll tell you how important he is for us.

“The elite teams always focus on stopping him because of how dangerous he can be.

“Gareth’s been in full training for two weeks but we are trusting our staff to bring him back at the right time.”

He continued: “We’ve been focused on Salford during pre-season.

“They are first up and the only team we have looked at in detail.

“We’ve made sure everybody’s in the right place physically and the two friendlies we have played have battle hardened the players.”

HULL FC: Bowden, Fonua, Green, Houghton, Logan, Manu, Minichiello, Paleaaesina, Pritchard, Pryce, Shaul, Sneyd, Talanoa, Taylor, Thompson, Tuimavave, Washbrook, Watts, Yeaman.
