Robins secure futures of Salter and Green

Hull Kingston Rovers Wednesday 25 Apr 2012 3:21pm

The Robins have tied down the futures of two of their promising youngsters with Liam Salter and James Green signing two year extensions to their contracts, keeping them at MS3 Craven Park until the end of 2014.

The young duo would have been out of contract at the end of the current campaign and Rovers have moved swiftly to ward off any moves from rival Super League clubs by securing the signatures of the pair.

Salter (18), was the club's Academy Player of the Year in 2011 and has continued to make progress in 2012. Salter made his first-team debut at Catalans earlier in the season and has gone on to make three further appearances at Super League level so far.

Green (21), is highly-rated at the club and skippered the Academy side into the play-offs for the first ever time last season.

Robins' Chief Executive, Mike Smith, is delighted that the pair have committed their future to the red and white cause and revealed that keeping hold of the club's promising, young talent is a major priority.

"With the way the game is going it's important to make sure that you have a good youth development structure in place," he said. "As a club, we have a real focus on producing our own talent and want to see the likes of Liam Salter and James Green become regular first-team players in the future.

"The fact that we have tied them down to new contracts is a statement of intent that shows we don't want our talented, young players leaving the club to go elsewhere."
