Hull KR to Keep Home Advantage for Derby
Hull Kingston Rovers Friday 1 Jun 2012 4:05pm
Hull KR have decided that the MS3 Craven Park will be available to host the Hull derby on Monday 23rd July.
The stadium is currently undergoing redevlopment of the North Stand, which usually houses the away supporters. Yet despite the reduced capacity, Hull KR feel that maintaining home advantage in a match which could be crucial in deciding their play off fate is vital. Hull KR chief executive Mike Smith told BBC Look North: "After we lost at the KC, I must have been inundated with fans saying 'don't give away home advantage."
The Good Friday match between the two rivals was originally intended to be played at Craven Park, but was switched due to the building work, to Hull FC's KC Stadium. However, Rovers insist that the reverse fixture is suitable to be played at Craven Park. As a result, it is expected that the Hull FC fans will be allocated the Southern Terrace at Hull KR, famous for it's large distance from the pitch, with an original allocation of 1,500 tickets.
There have been two meetings between the sides this season, with both winning one each. On Good Friday, FC comprehensively beat their rivals 36-6, after a slow start. Hull KR gained revenge last Saturday at the Magic Weekend, defeating Hull FC with a last minute David Hodgson try, by 32-30.
The third, and probably final match will take place at MS3 Craven Park and will be played on Monday 23rd July at 8pm, as part of Sky Sports 'Super League Mondays'.
