Rhinos get high profile backing

Leeds Rhinos Wednesday 22 Aug 2012 3:53pm

Leeds Rhinos will have an army of fans heading down to Wembley on Saturday and they have been given the backing of a number of high profile supporters before the big day.

Olympic Gold Medallist boxer Nicola Adams, who went to school with injured Rhinos star Danny McGuire commented, "I am behind the boys all the way at Wembley. The Rhinos were backing me all the way to gold at the Olympics and I will be cheering them on on Saturday."

Olympic triathlon heroes Alistair and Jonny Brownlee have also given the team their support. Gold medal winner Alistair said, "I am sure it is going to be an amazing experience for the team, having thousands of fans giving them their backing down at Wembley. They are a great group of guys and I am sure they can bring the Cup home to Leeds." Bronze medal winner Jonny said, "Unfortunately I can't be at Wembley because I have an event in Stockholm but I will be keeping in touch with how the team are getting on. The Rhinos are a great team and I know they can do it."

England Rugby Union Head Coach Stuart Lancaster commented, "The ability for a team to peak at the right time and turn finalists into consistent winners is a skill few teams have, but the Rhinos have it and have proved it time and time again. They have the experience, self belief and talent and most of all a fantastic City and set of fans behind them. I am sure they will do the City and themselves proud and peak once again on the big occasion and come out on top."

England and Harlequins Rugby Union scrum half, Danny Care, who will be at Wembley on Saturday cheering the team he has supported since he was a schoolboy, added, "I would like to congratulate the Rhinos on reaching another Challenge Cup final. I'm really looking forward to attending the match and will be encouraging the team to secure another trophy."

Leeds United Manager Neil Warnock added, "It's a fabulous day for the city. Following on from the Olympics we've had a real menu of sport, particularly from this area, and I think it's great. We've got the cricketers and Leeds Rhinos in finals this weekend. It's terrific for the area and the city, and I'd like to wish all of them the best of luck from everyone at Leeds United."

New England cricket sensation Jonny Bairstow is also a fan of the Rhinos. He added, "I love going to watch the Rhinos at Headingley Carnegie. I just want to wish Kevin and all the team the best of luck on Saturday."
