Randall ready for a Magic Weekend to remember

Randall ready for a Magic Weekend to remember

London Broncos Tuesday 22 May 2012 1:56pm

Long-serving hooker Chad Randall is urging London fans to get behind the Broncos for their Magic Weekend confrontation with Catalan Dragons on Sunday May 27 (12.00).

Randall, who has played in all the Super League Magic Weekends, believes that this one could be the best ever, so fans should make sure they don’t miss out.

“They’re great events and this one, being in Manchester, will attract a big crowd,” said Randall.

“We love our little pocket of Broncos fans, they may be a small group but they are very vocal and quite noisy when they get together. Every bit of support helps us, so it’s important for them to be there.”

The London club have a great record at the Magic Weekend; they have lost just one of their five matches. They kicked off the whole concept back in 2007 in the opening match at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff when Randall scored two tries in their 32-28 victory over the Catalans.

The following year, still under the guise of Harlequins RL, they fell to their only defeat, a narrow 18-16 loss to the Dragons. The move to Edinburgh saw them register wins over Salford and then Hull before returning last year to Cardiff and the Catalan Dragons, winning 11-4.

It will be the capital club’s debut under their Broncos banner and Randall can’t wait.

“It’s a fantastic weekend,” he said. “It brings all the teams together and all the fans together, there’s a great vibe about it. It’s a happy, happy weekend and we’ll be playing in a great stadium. Obviously there’s been some big events at the Eithad Stadium in the last few weeks!”

The Broncos are looking to build on a good performance against Hull FC at Gillingham, which they lost 14-12.

“We put in a good defensive display against Hull,” said Randall, we want to keep that up. It definitely helps us when you’re got a bit of support. You can always hear them.

“They often have to travel and put it in for us. The more of them that are there the better, we really enjoy them being there.

“For anyone interested in Rugby League it will be a great weekend in a great stadium and a great city, even the weather looks like being good. You’d be mad not to go up there and support Rugby League. They’re great events for the fans.”

Day tickets for the Magic Weekend are selling fast and cost from just £30 adult and £15 concession. Tickets for the full weekend cost from just £45 adult and £22.50 concessions and are available by calling 0844 856 1113 or by visiting www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk.
