BBC’s London Marathon coverage to highlight rugby league’s heroic charity challengers
Charity fundraising duo Steve Prescott MBE and Paul Sculthorpe will be interviewed live on BBC 1 this Sunday just before they begin the Virgin London Marathon.
The 26 mile run will be Steve and Paul’s final phase of an eight day fundraising challenge that started with the Paris Marathon last Sunday. Since then they will have cycled the 278 miles between Paris and London and rowed the English Channel.
The rugby league legends are raising funds for The Steve Prescott Foundation whose beneficiary charities are Try Assist, which is the rugby league benevolent fund, and The Christie in Manchester, where Steve receives treatment for his terminal cancer.
Sue Barker is scheduled to interview Steve and Paul about their remarkable journey, from the marathon start line at 8.37am on Sunday live on BBC 1.
In addition, BBC Radio 5 Live will be speaking to the pair twice. Firstly on Colin Murray’s Friday night show, between 8.30pm and 9.30, when he previews the weekend sport, and on Sunday morning with John Inverdale just before the start of the marathon.
