Black to lead Batley's Cup charge

Black to lead Batley's Cup charge

Rugby League Tuesday 24 Apr 2012 9:37am

Batley Bulldogs talisman Ben Black is ready to welcome Super League opponents London Broncos to Mount Pleasant for a Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round tie on Sunday April 29 (2.00pm) and the dynamic half-back says the Broncos will be in for a stern test.

The Bulldogs have been in fine form so far this season, notching nine wins from 11 games, and with confidence running high the former Halifax player is desperate to use every advantage possible to secure what would be a famous victory.

“I’m really looking forward to the game,” said Black. “We’ve had two weeks to prepare for this and we played well at the weekend against York, so we’re going into the game full of confidence

“It’s important that you go into these games in good form and we’ve been winning a lot of games so our belief is high and that could be key. London will be a very different game and a challenge, but we know if we play well on the day then we can get the result and we’re more than capable of pulling off a shock.

“We need to bring our A-game for certain but Featherstone showed last week that it can be done and that only serves to give us more confidence.

“They have to come up here and face us on our home patch and that gives us a big advantage. We’ve got a passionate set of supporters and hopefully they’ll come out and support us in good voice to help spur us on.

“We know it would be huge for the club to get the win and hopefully we’ll be able to deliver that and a massive Cup shock this weekend.”

Tickets for the Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round tie Batley Bulldogs v London Broncos to be played at Mount Pleasant on Sunday April 29 (2.00pm) cost from £15 Adult, £9 Concessions and £3 Children and can be purchased on the day.
