Mellor Charged, Three Others Cautioned
Rugby League Tuesday 5 Jun 2012 1:42pm
Widnes Vikings player Joe Mellor has been charged with making a Grade B dangerous throw on Scott Grix of Huddersfield Giants in the 30th  minute of Sunday’s Stobart Super League Round 16 fixture.
Mellor has until 11.00am on Wednesday to submit an Early Guilty Plea. If he does not do so he will appear before the RFL Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday afternoon.
He was charged after the incident was viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel, who also issued formal cautions to the following players:
Sam Tomkins (Wigan Warriors) – kicking out in a tackle by Jamie Jones-Buchanan of Leeds in the 13th  minute;
Ryan Bailey (Leeds) – conduct contrary to the spirit of the game in the 26th  minute with use of head and hands in a tackle on Anthony Gelling of Wigan;
Lee Smith (Leeds) – kicking out in a tackle by Brett Finch of Wigan in the 36th  minute.
The cautions will remain on the players’ disciplinary record and could be taken into consideration in future incidents.
