Brett Finch looking forward to being among the best of the best

Rugby League Monday 11 Jun 2012 12:43pm

Wigan Warriors stand-off Brett Finch can’t wait to get into camp with his fellow Exiles next week. The Australian is a key part of Daniel Anderson’s squad which represents the cream of the overseas players currently playing Super League.

Anderson paid Finch a big compliment when announcing his squad on Monday at Langtree Park. He said “Good half backs in Super League are like hen’s teeth, they’re very rare and that’s why Brett Finch stands out”.

Finch was obviously delighted with that, he said: “That’s great to hear. Obviously Daniel is a top coach and his track record in Super League is great. He produced top results with Saints and has a great reputation over here. I know he’s looking forward to working with the squad and I’m looking forward with him for sure”.

With the great success Finch has this season behind Wigan’s pack he’s looking forward to working with another quality set of forwards “I had a quick look at the squad on Wednesday and it’s a very good squad. It’s always good to be playing at the top level, so to have more top players around me is something I’m really looking forward to next week”.

The former New South Wales State of Origin star believes the Exiles have a great chance of winning but thinks England will be better this year.

“I think England will have improved. Just looking at the strength in depth they have now with the England Knights squad backing them up makes it a great set-up”.

Finch doesn’t believe he’ll come in for any particularly special treatment from his Wigan colleagues on the England team though. “It’s great to be playing England and lining up against a few of the Wigan boys but I think Jeff Lima might be in for a tougher time than me” he added.

Tickets for both matches in the International Origin Series are now on general sale and can be purchased through the RFL Ticket office on 0844 856 1113 or by visiting rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk.

Tickets for the opening fixture at Langtree Park, St Helens, on Saturday June 16 (6.45pm) cost from ÂŁ18 (ÂŁ9 concessions) for standing and ÂŁ21 (ÂŁ10 concessions) seating. Tickets for the all-seater second fixture at Galpharm Stadium, Huddersfield, on Wednesday July 4 (7.45pm) cost from ÂŁ21 (ÂŁ10 concessions).
