Autumn International Series To Be Shown on BBC

Autumn International Series To Be Shown on BBC

Rugby League Sunday 23 Sep 2012 4:34pm

The cream of northern hemisphere Rugby League talent - and some of the NRL's biggest stars - will take centre stage in October and November when England, France and Wales compete in the 2012 Autumn International Series.

Each nation will host one match in the series which culminates in the final at Salford City Stadium on Sunday November 11.

A year out from the 14-nation Rugby League World Cup, the RFL has agreed a deal with the BBC that will see all four matches broadcast live on terrestrial television.

The Autumn International Series provides an opportunity for all three competing nations to hone their preparations for Rugby League World Cup 2013 and will feature the best Rugby League players from the domestic competitions of Europe and Australia.

They include Hull FC’s new signing Gareth Ellis, the former Wests Tigers second row who is poised to make his first appearance in his soon-to-be adopted home city as a member of the England team that will play France at MS3 Craven Park on Saturday November 3.

That match could also feature South Sydney forward Sam Burgess and James Graham, who will end his debut season Down Under by playing for Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL Grand Final next weekend.

Graham remains a huge favourite with fans of his former club St Helens and a huge turn out is expected to see ‘Jammer’ should England reach the final at Salford.

The 2012 Autumn International Series kicks off on the afternoon of Saturday October 20 when France host Wales in the northern French city of Lens before moving on to The Glyndwr University Racecourse Ground at Wrexham on Saturday October 27 for Wales v England.

England then host France at the home of Hull Kingston Rovers, MS3 Craven Park on Saturday November 3.

The series concludes with the final at Salford City Stadium on Sunday November 11.

The 2012 Autumn International Series tournament schedule in full is as follows:

Saturday October 20 – France v Wales (Lens, ko tbc)

Saturday October 27 – Wales v England (Glyndwr University Racecourse Ground, Wrexham, 2.30)

Saturday November 3 – England v France (MS3 Craven Park, Hull, 2.30)

Sunday November 11 – Final (Salford City Stadium, 5.00).

Tickets for the 2012 Autumn International Series matches cost just £12 (adults) and £6 concessions) and are available to purchase from 9.00am on Monday (September 24) from the RFL Ticket Office on 0844 8561113 or by visiting www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk
