Holdsworth outstanding for Exiles
Salford City Reds Thursday 5 Jul 2012 9:39am
Salford City Reds' Daniel Holdsworth continued his outstanding Club form on the International arena as he helped put an England side containing his half-back partner Matty Smith to the sword at the Galpharm Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Exiles, who retain the international origin trophy courtesy of victory in last year's inaugural one-off game, were dominant in all areas of the game, with the biggest threats coming from the oldest players on the field in 34-year-old Brett Hodgson and 38-year-old Steve Menzies.
Skipper Hodgson scored two of his side's six tries and kicked four goals for a personal haul of 16 points while winger Francis Meli also touched down twice.
McNamara's made a decision to rest four regulars, with three others unavailable, which included retired Peacock, this gave his side an experimental lookwhich resulted in few players not showing their full potentialand missing their big chance to impress.
Holdsworth however and Reds' team-mate Joel Moon shone for the Exiles and will return to Salford City Stadium bouyed by the result.
