Wolves favourites for Challenge Cup glory

Wolves favourites for Challenge Cup glory

Warrington Wolves Friday 13 Apr 2012 4:05pm

Warrington Wolves have been installed as 3/1 favourites to win the 2012 Carnegie Challenge Cup at Wembley on Saturday August 25.

The Wolves hit the Wembley trail on Sunday with a fourth round tie at Keighley Cougars when William Hill, the official betting partner of Rugby League, expect them to take the first step on a journey that will end with them reclaiming a trophy they won in 2009 and 2010.

Warrington are priced narrowly ahead of holders Wigan Warriors who are 7/2 while St Helens at 5/1 and Leeds Rhinos at 6/1 are seen as the other two sides most likely to get their hands on the trophy.

Catalan Dragons are 12/1 to become the first French side to win the historic competition while 2009 finalists Huddersfield Giants and 2005 Cup winners Hull FC are both priced at 14/1.

Wakefield trinity Wildcats have been given a 22-point start on the handicap coupon for tonight’s fourth round tie against Leeds Rhinos at Headingley Carnegie Stadium (8.00pm) while Featherstone Rovers have been given an 18-point start ahead of tomorrow’s eagerly anticipated local derby clash with Castleford Tigers at Big Fellas Stadium (3.00pm)..
