Tuesday 6 Sep 2016 4:44pm

Stefan Marsh, will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Widnes Vikings flying winger, Stefan Marsh, will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Marsh suffered the injury during the Vikings heroic win against Wigan Warriors last Thursday night and is awaiting a decision on whether he needs an operation.

Denis Betts Head Coach said: “We’re assessing him this week but the early signs mean he will definitely miss the rest of this year."

“We’re still waiting for some feedback from specialists to determine the extent of the injury and that could mean he requires surgery."

Despite the injury, early in the first half of the game, Stefan continued to play the rest of the game and even made a "game saving tackle" towards the end of the second half.

Betts added;

"I think that Stefs performance, and in particular that tackle, optimised the teams attitude last week"

"Stef has got that electric pace from a standing start and he is a loss to the team"

Despite the loss of Marsh, Denis' selection decisions for Friday nights clash with Warrington are bolstered with the return of Patrick Ah Van.
